7:20 Earliest drop-off time
7:20 - 7:55 Students report to cafeteria for breakfast, library for silent study, or the gym.
For safety and supervision reasons, these are the only areas in which your child is allowed until first bell.
7:55 First bell signals dismissal to homeroom
8:00 Tardy bell
Any student entering the building after 8:00 am must obtain a yellow tardy slip before going to class.
8:05 - 8:50 Academic Academy
8:52 - 3:00 Each team has a seperate schedule of 7 class periods.
11:30 - 1:00 Lunches are served in 25 minute increments.
You may check with your child's teacher or call the office to find out the exact time your child goes to lunch.

 CVCC Math Contest

JFMS recently attended the 22nd Annual CVCC Jeanette L. Staley Mathematics Tournament hosted by CVCC Mathematic Department. Participants were from Catawba, Caldwell and Alexander County middle and high schools.  Jacobs Fork Math I Team placed 1st out of more than 20 schools (both middle & high school) that attended the tournament.  The students participated in an individual competition, as well as a team competition.  The students took a test that consisted of 25 multiple-choice items and 2 free-response questions. The top 2 teams were recognized in each area of competition: Pre-Algebra, Math I, Math II, Math III and Advanced Math and received a trophy.  The Top 5 students in each area were recognized and received cash prizes.  Jacobs Fork had 3 students to receive individual awards:  Pre-Algebra: Madelyn S. (3rd place),  Math I: Parker R. (4th place) and Brandon K (1st place).

 FBLA Leadership Conference Results

he Jacobs Fork Middle School Future Business Leaders of American club traveled to Greensboro, NC to participate in the state leadership conference which was held April 13-15, 2015. Recognition testing is completed at the competition. Students have no prior knowledge of the event tests and cannot prepare in advance. The following students ranked in the top 10 of all middle school students who took the tests. Top 10 in the state in recognition testing: Digital Literacy - Ragan P Parliamentary Procedures - Kaitlin Z and Julia R Personal Finance - Julia R, Sierra W, Lauren D and Baili H Competitive events are projects or exams completed prior to the state conference while public speaking events are held the first two days of the event. The following students were recognized for their accomplishments. American Enterprise Project - 2nd place awarded to Jacob Wand Valerie S Business Communications - Kendall W placed in the top 10. Business Computer Technology Ben P awarded 3rd place in the state. Business Math - Mary L awarded 1st place. Brandon K and Chloe F placed in the top 10. Computer Slide Show- Chloe F, Gwen B and Emily C won 2nd place.  Crime Prevention Project - Maddie M won 1st place.  Impromptu Speaking- Kassidy M placed in the top 10.  Introduction to Business Communication - Lauren D won 1st place and Madelyn S finished in the top 10. Keyboarding Applications 1- Dana L finished in the top 10. Keyboarding Applications 2- Kenzie B and Faith M finished in the top 10.  Local Chapter Activities Report- Karlina H, Tessa P and Carah W won 3rd place. Parliamentary Procedures- Julia R won 1st place while Bianca M and Angelina X finished in the top 10.  Public Speaking- Julia P won 2nd place and Allison K finished in the top 10.  Spreadsheets- Katherine E and Carah W finished in the top 10.

 The Mighty Jaguar Band

The JFMS 8th Grade Band earned a Superior rating at the NW District Music Performance Assessment in Grade II music on Thursday, March 26th.  Superior ratings were given from all 4 judges!

 Science Olympiad

JFMS Science Olympiad Team competed last Saturday in the regional competition at CVCC. Our team competed against 22 other teams in 22 events. JFMS students were impressive and brought home medals in 10 events. The team earned a beautiful trophy for coming in 6th place over all. Congratulations JFMS Science Olympiads.

 Paper Cranes

 photo paper_cranes_2_zpskvnfb5zr.jpgEllen Fountain's seventh grader ELA/Social Studies students read the novel Sadako and a Thousand Paper Cranes and completed a project of folding 1,000 paper cranes for a staff member at Jacobs Fork Middle School who is facing serious medical issues. An old Japanese legend said that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes would be granted a wish. The origami crane has become an international symbol of peace. The students completed the reading of the book AND the 1,000 cranes over a three (3) day time period.
